The Dermis is called the "one true skin" because of its vital functions and structures found in the skin at that level.
Three Major Layers of #Skin
The skin is the largest organ in our body.
The skin is the #first barrier against Sun radiation, stopping bacteria, regulating body temperature, producing Vit D, and a receptor that transmits it to the nervous system.
There are three layers of skin- Epidermis, Dermis, and Subcutaneous.
The Epidermis- is what we see visibly
The Dermis- is the middle layer between the Epidermis and the subcutaneous layer.
The Subcutaneous- is the layer of protective fat between the Dermis and the muscles.
All layers work together as one big organ to help our body be healthy.
Primary functions of the Dermis layer
This layer of skin contains connective tissues, blood vessels, oil and sweat glands, nerves, hair follicles, and other structures. And some of the other vital functions are:
Collagen: Protein that adds strength
Reticular fibers: protein fibers that add support
Elastic fibers: the protein that adds flexibility
Collagen, reticular, and elastic fibers are associated with sagging skin, fine lines, and wrinkles.
The loss of the Dermal layer?
As mentioned above, the dermal layer becomes thinner due to less production of collagen, and elastin wears out - becoming less elastic, equivalent to sagging skin, and less production of sebum which contributes to dryness. So, True Skin is losing its most authentic self and adding to it the stress from our responsibilities, work, kids, and our tendency to take care as the last thing to do.
Maintenance
There are many ways to keep our skin healthy, from eating right to monthly facials. Aging or losing our True skin will not stop; that is just a natural part of our life. But that doesn't mean we can't age gracefully.
Many different innovative machines address these issues, from microcurrents to skin scrubbers. With the right products and tools, skin problems can resolve and/or minimized to give healthier-looking skin.
At True Skin Spa, we thrive on helping our clients achieve their potential with whatever their skin goals are. With a thorough consultation, regular facials, the proper nutrients, and a regimen that you swear - anything is possible regarding skincare. And giving "True Skin" its integrity, strength, and elasticity back.
